Prime Minister Kallas to visit Finland

Stenbock House, 25 September 2023 – Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will be on a working visit to Finland on Friday 29 September.

Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will meet with the Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, with whom she will discuss bilateral relations between Estonia and Finland, including cooperation in ensuring border security. Support for Ukraine and broader security issues and the future of the European Union will also be discussed.

Prime Minister Kallas pointed out that upon taking office, the Finnish Prime Minister’s first bilateral visit abroad was to Estonia in July. “Finland has always held a special place in the hearts of Estonians. I am delighted to visit Finland. Since Finland joined NATO, we have made a leap forward in our defence and security cooperation. Finland has also been a very good partner to us in the EU. We aim to further enhance our bilateral relations,” said Kallas.

As part of her visit, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will also be meeting with the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö and major Finnish companies and investors at the Estonian embassy.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Kallas will be taking part in a debate at the Helsinki Security Forum together with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
