Kristen Michal was born in Tallinn on 12 July 1975. He is in a common-law marriage and the father of three sons. He joined the Estonian Reform Party in 1996 and is a member of its board.
Career
- 2023-2024 Minister of Climate.
- In 2016–2021, he was a member of the 13th and 14th Riigikogu.
- In 2015–2016, he was the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure.
- In 2012–2015, he was a member of the 12th Riigikogu.
- In 2011–2012, he was the Minister of Justice.
- In 2004–2007, he was a member of the 10th and 11th Riigikogu.
- In 2003–2011, he was the Secretary General of the Estonian Reform Party.
- In 2002–2003, he was the Elder of the Kesklinn district in Tallinn.
- In 2002, he was an advisor to the Prime Minister.
- In 2001–2002, he was an advisor to the Minister of Regional Affairs and the head of the minister’s office.
- Since 1999, he was a member of the Tallinn City Council.
- In 1999–2001, he was an advisor to the Reform Party faction of the Riigikogu.
- In 1996–1999, he was an advisor to the Reform Party faction of the Tallinn City Council.
Education
In 1994 studied economy at I Studium and in 1994-1999 studied administrative management at Tallinn University. Graduated from University Nord in 2009 with a degree in law, and studied law at the master’s level at Tallinn University in 2010–2014. Native language: Estonian. Also speaks English, Finnish, German, and Russian.
Other
He is a reserve officer in the Defence Forces. His interests include literature, sports, and fishing.
