Stenbock House, 15 December 2021 – Today, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will travel to Brussels to attend the Eastern Partnership Summit in the evening and the European Council meeting and Euro Summit tomorrow.

The Eastern Partnership Summit aims to agree on the goals and activities of the Eastern Partnership programme for the next ten years. Before the summit, Kallas will meet separately with Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, and participate in a lunch with the heads of state and government of Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Finland, Latvia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Croatia. Both meetings will focus on the future of the Eastern Partnership programme. In the evening, Kaja Kallas will meet with Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Denmark, to discuss defence and climate co-operation.

The European Council meeting of Thursday will focus on promoting vaccination against COVID-19 and matters related to vaccination certificates. The meeting will also address energy, security, and external relations of the EU. In the evening, the Council will be followed by the Euro Summit focusing on economic policy and the current situation in the EU.

The prime minister will return to Estonia in the early morning of 17 December.
