Stenbock House, 19 February 2025 – Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal participated in a video conference this evening where, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, the leaders of NATO and the European Union discussed the security situation in Europe and the cessation of Russian military action in Ukraine.

“Europe must act now to help Ukraine more in the near future,” said Prime Minister Michal. “We have to move forward fast with the aid package for military support to Ukraine, work on the possibility of using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine, and move forward with sanctions and tariffs,” he added.

Michal said that Estonia’s course remains unchanged. “We must support President Zelenskyy, weaken Russia and increase our defence spending,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that Europe will continue to engage and cooperate with its ally, the United States, as well as with other partners.
