“This meeting demonstrated the strength of Europe,” the head of government said. “We have Ukraine’s back and will continue to support it not just politically and militarily, but in every way we can. The first and best security guarantee for the country is its own strong army. Estonia has increased its military aid by 25% this year, and others have taken similar steps.”
The leaders of the almost 30 countries which gathered in Paris agreed that there would be no respite in political and economic pressure on the aggressor and that sanctions would continue to be used, since they are an effective means of pressure. “The meeting clearly showed that no one is under any illusion that Russia can be trusted,” Prime Minister Michal said.
The planning of the next steps for the Coalition of the Willing continues at both the political and military levels. The head of government says Estonia is willing to contribute to the coalition proportionally. “That goes without saying, since the matter directly concerns our own security,” he remarked. The details of Estonia’s contribution will be clarified in further discussions.
